Over the past 50 years, the town’s civic artwork assortment has blossomed to incorporate over 4,000 works scattered throughout Seattle, from tucked-away neighborhoods to main roadways. Enter the Recent Views youth curatorial program, during which the subsequent era of artwork aficionados selects promising expertise so as to add to the town’s eclectic assortment every year. Mentored by artist Hasaan Kirkland, a cohort of 10 youth curators handpicked 50 artists for consideration again in 2024. Now, the ultimate selections are on show in Recent Views. Buzzy Ballard gallery Get Good has determined that spring has sprung, equinox be damned. Their newest group present, reBLOOM, opened on March 8 for the Ballard Artwork Stroll, that includes a bouquet of contemporary artworks by over 20 artists. I am excited to see items by Brandon Vosika, whose portray graced the duvet of The Stranger‘s Fall Arts + Efficiency concern, and Portland-grown painter-illustrator Ryan Bubnis, amongst many different native and further-flung faves.
